: How do you deal with skunks on a night shoot?
On the shoots where I've encountered lots of skunks (usually a location near a source of food) I just ignore them. They seem plenty busy doing skunk stuff and don't seem to object to my presence. They'll literally skurry right between my legs if I happen to be in their way and I've had to be careful not to accidentally step on one. I became acquainted with skunks on my very first shoot. The location had plenty of food sources and the skunks were so abundant that it would have been impossible to chase them all away so I just took a live and let live attitude. If you see a skunk and it sees you, they'll only spray as a last resort. The biggest danger is accidentally coming across one and startling it. And if this happens it is probably far too late to chase it away with your flashlight.
