If you send me an email I might be able to help with some of your questions about shooting digital at night. I also used an OM-4T for night photography for years before switching to "The Dark Side" about one year ago.
Digital certainly has some advantages for night photography. But as you pointed out, it's certainly not time to give up on film, either :-)
