Hello Everybody,

I met Mike Quinn today at Castro Photo. He noticed some of my digital work while it was getting printed and said I should come here and make contact with you all. So, here I am.

I am extremely new to night photography and don't really have much experience with photography in general--aside from some dabbling here and there over the years. However, I'm very excited by the possibilities digital allows for me to proof my work and improve it on the spot with no per-image cost.

Because I wasn't really planning on doing anything too serious when I made the purchase, I bought a digital camera with few manual controls, but fairly nice image quality (relative to amateur digital cameras). I'm short of funds, so I can't run out and buy a Canon D1s just yet...

Perhaps with some quidance and experience gained from my digital camera, I might return to film because I know that allows for a lot more possibilities--especially on those long exposures where the digital noise gets bad. I have an OM4T and some mid-level Canon EOS SLR, should I brave that route.

Anyway, I'm going to read through these postings and website some more to see all that I have to learn. I have included a link to my "Night Tree" public folder on photo.net, if you're curious as to what I've managed so far. I would, of course, be very grateful for any comments and criticisms you might wish to share. I especially like when people tell me ways a particular photo could have been better and ways to improve my work in general.

Regards,
Jonathan
