Todd Harry Friedlander
Over the past several years I have been using photography to document the subtle but constant changes to the built environment of our cities. As a practicing architect, my livelihood has a direct affect on how, when, where and why our cities change, building by building, brick by brick. Recently, I have been capturing the subtle beauty of our cities as seen through the filter of nighttime and artificial lights and lighting's impact on our perceptions of building and space.

My work has been shown at the 3rd through 6th Annual "Buy Fine Art Before You're 60" Photography shows, the SFMOMA Artist's Gallery and several publications including Art of Northern California and American Art Collector, Volume 1. See more work at ToddFriedlander.com

Robert Garrett
Robert Garrett lives and works in San Francisco. He recently exhibited work in the exhibit, "A Night on the Hill," which showcased the Potrero Hill neighborhood of San Francisco and its resident artists. His current work - voyeuristic nocturnal portraits of tract homes, done in Sun City, addressing the dark side of the SouthWest today - was awarded a "Curator's Choice" award in our recent online exhibit, "From Tucson to . . . " - http://www.thenocturnes.com/exhibits/tucson/awards.htm - juried by William Lesch.

Randy Gunning
I have been taking pictures for more than 20 years, but I have only been showing for the last three years while completing the Certificate in Photography program at UC Berkeley Extension. While I have worked in many different types of photography, I always come back to photographing at night because of that special quality of light you find with very long exposures. Mark Interrante
I have been active in photography for 10 years and am interested in night photography, pinhole, architectural, and travel photography. These artists have been influential: Michael Kenna, David Hockney, Keith Carter, and Phil Borges. A major theme in my photography is blur vs sharpness of image, and how that contrast can represent fleeting experiences, memories, or emotions. More images and info at www.interwalk.com

Mark Jaremko
My interest in photography started during my childhood years in Toronto, when my father gave me my first Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera. For the past many years, my focus has been on night photography in urban and industrial settings. I have always been fascinated by the interplay of static and moving objects, and how meaning is conveyed by color as well as composition. Although I photograph at all times of the day, the peaceful and secluded nature of the night draws me in. Having moved on from the Brownie, most work is now done in high resolution digital format. Currently, I live in San Mateo with my lovely and talented wife, angelic two year old and crabby old cat. This is my first open studio exhibit.
Richard Kettles
I have been interested in photography since childhood. My interest became a passion in 1987 after documenting a conservation trip to Alaska. Soon after I began studying photography and printmaking at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I am also fortunate to have studied under some of the best photographers and teachers of today including Richard Garrod, Phil Davis and Kerik Kouklis. My photography has gravitated towards black and white images as I attempt to reflect the mood and elegance of the environment around me. I work in many formats and enjoy working in both the traditional and digital darkroom as well as using vintage methods such as platinum palladium. Night Photography holds a special interest to me as the subtlest of light has its own unique beauty.
Adam Moore
Though I was surrounded by photography from an early age, in the end I came to photography relatively late in life. After obtaining liberal arts degree in History and Political Science from the University of California at Santa Cruz I began the meandering journey of a rootless BA. Upon determining that I was not going to become the Under Secretary of State for Eastern European Affairs, I gradually allowed my energies to seek new outlets. An abiding interest in both history and politics, as well as enduring visions of Peter Lorre's trial in Fritz Lang's "M", pervade my photographic vision. Photography should teach, move, and at its very best, give the willies. AdamMoore.com
Greta & Manu Schnetzler
Emmanuel (Manu) Schnetzler was born in Strasbourg, France where he began taking photos at age 15 when he spent his first night in a darkroom. He published his first photo a few years later and was a photography instructor at summer camps on the Côte d'Azur. Greta Schnetzler is a native of Alabama where she first studied photography and worked as a photographer for a small town newspaper. She has also studied painting and drawing at the San Francisco Art Institute. For the past seven years they have been pursuing a common vision in their collaborative photography work. Greta and Manu reside and work on Potrero Hill where they have exhibited their work with other “Hill” artists in the longstanding annual group exhibit. They have also exhibited their work in various solo exhibitions. This is their fourth year to participate in open studios. www.schnetzler.com

Karen Schreiber
Since 1999, I have focused on fine art and documentary photography. My photographic career has been enriched through classes at Fotovision, City College of San Francisco, Stanford Continuing Studies, and UC Berkeley Extension. I continue to experiment with night photography that focuses on sense of place and the changing landscape of the Bay area.

My current documentary work involves individuals and families dealing with terminal illnesses, visual impairments, and aging. Each of these photographs stands alone as an artistic statement about the human condition, sharing universal themes of hope and healing. For examples, see www.kpsphoto.com.

Lena Tsakmaki

Her format of choice is the 4x5 view camera and her interests are divided between representational and abstract/experimental photography. Her current portfolio “Empty Places” explores buildings as vehicles and acting stages of the emotional lives of the people who live and pass through them, using as a paradigm buildings in her life. www.lenatsakmaki.com

John Vias
I believe all of us, every day and night and no matter where, are surrounded by beauty. But most of us wear blinders. We fill our time with appointments and obligations and scurry through life, rarely bothering to look around and appreciate our surroundings. At night, once familiar objects take on a new character, yet we are even more likely to ignore the beauty of nighttime scenes in our rush to get home. I try to capture the beauty of overlooked objects in my photographs. And I encourage you to take a closer look - www.johnvias.com

Roxanne Worthington
Six years ago I fell in love with black & white photography.  It became my passion, my avocation. In the last year I've changed my focus (no pun intended) to color digital photography.  My work, while varied, is almost always about mood and about my experience.  Sometimes that mood or experience is best captured in the glorious golden hours of early or late light, sometimes in the high contrast of midday sun and lately in the eerily lit dark hours of the night.

I have exhibited in group and solo shows and sell my work in galleries and shops in the Bay Area, and I am a member of BAPC (www.BAPC.info) and teach classes at Fogbelt Studio (www.fogbeltstudio.com).
