The Nocturnes 2004 - About our Juror

To the Exhibit

Juror Brian Kelly is probably best known for his magical depiction of the downtown cityscapes illuminated in his book Grand Rapids: Night After Night.

Kelly’s abstract perspectives, crisp compositions, and fluid style are well registered in his seascapes, cityscapes, and architectural images. His work has attracted the attention and patronage of galleries, private collectors, and corporations across America.

Kelly also offers another special photographic window, on a wider world of images, in limited edition studies made during travels of Iceland, Spain, England, Greece, Barbados, The British Virgin Islands, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Chicago and throughout his home state of Michigan.

Brian has also responded to the local demand for his fine art photography
by opening the large and more inclusive, The Photography Room. Owned
by Brian and his wife Kathleen, The Photography Room (www.thephotographyroom.com) is a gallery dedicated to the work of many well-known and emerging local, national, and international photographers. Brian Kelly resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Photographer, Gallery owner, and longtime friend of The Nocturnes, Kelly (recently seen at Photo San Francisco) was happy (once he got back home
to Michigan) to act as Juror for The Nocturnes 2004, our latest online exhibit
of Night Photography.

View our distinguished Juror's comments about the selection process, and
his final choices here. As always, you can visit NightTalk, the message
board of The Nocturnes, and let us know what you thought of this exhibit.

We hope you enjoy the show!
